Overview
Console replaces manual lost laptop reports handled through email or informal messages by utilizing predefined workflows that ensure reports are tracked, reviewed, and handled consistently.
How lost laptop reports are handled in Console
Employees report a lost laptop through Slack or Microsoft Teams, where Console captures the report as a structured Request. The request flow ensures the necessary information is collected upfront, such as which device is affected and when the loss occurred. Once submitted, the request follows a predefined workflow so IT teams can respond appropriately.
Using device context
By linking lost laptop reports to Devices in Console, IT teams can reference the exact device during review, reducing ambiguity and eliminating unnecessary employee follow-ups.
Routing and follow-up actions
Once a lost laptop report is submitted, Console routes the request to the appropriate IT team or operator. Requests remain in a single thread so all context and updates are preserved. If additional steps are required (like coordination with another team or vendor) the request can be routed accordingly while maintaining visibility.
Request tracking and visibility
All lost laptop reports are tracked in Console, giving IT teams a clear record of reported incidents. From Console, teams can:
View open and resolved lost laptop reports
Review request details and history
Maintain a record of how each report was handled
This supports consistency and accountability in how lost devices are managed.
